Antonio David Lyons holds an MA in Applied Theatre from the City University of New York (CUNY) and maintains a thriving career as a commercial artist in tandem with his activist and scholarly pursuits. He is the founder of We Are Here, a social sculpture project designed for men and boys where the arts can impact social conditions, attitudes, perceptions and structures. His artistic pursues lie both in South Africa and the USA. His Film and Television credits include: The Book of Negroes, Avenger, Generation Kill, False Prophets, Hotel Rwanda, Masked and Anonymous, American History X, The Sum of All Fears, New York Undercover, The District, The Agency, 24, The Practice, and Karen Sisco. In South Africa: Generations, Jacob’s Cross, Fourplay: Sex tips for girls, Scandal, Ubizo: The Calling, Jozi-H, Snitch, Night Drive and Home Affairs. He has released numerous singles and two studio albums: Human Jewels and We Dance We Pray and is the author of three plays: Celebration, Beautiful Struggle and We Are Here. Antonio is a Fulbright Awardee and a Producing Fellow at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival.
